Animal rescue volunteers collected almost 70 poisoned pigeons from the retail park in Wals-Himmelreich in early December. The German animal protection organization Peta is now offering a finder’s fee of 1,000 euros.
The money is intended to reward information leading to the final conviction of the people responsible for the crime. The animal protection organization wants clarification about the matter. Laboratory analysis showed that the birds had been poisoned. Wildlife officials have secured food grains on the roof where the pigeons were found.
On December 9, the 70 animals were collected by the city council and the ARGE Stadttauben association. In the following days, the building’s caretaker found even more pigeons – so there are now more, but an exact number has not been recorded.
