The airline Lufthansa has announced that it will drastically reduce its flights. 500 flights have been canceled at Frankfurt airport.
The heavy snowfall which are partly expected Germany and the ice led to cancel flights at several airports in Germany since the German Weather Service (DWD) issued a warning and asked citizens to postpone all non-essential travel.
According to the DWS, heavy snow is expected throughout the day in central Germany and freezing rain in the south, which will impact the highway traffic and the railway traffic.
For Berlin 15 centimeters of snow and temperatures of minus 8 degrees are expected. Drivers have been warned that danger exists ice on the roads.
