US forces again attacked the positions of the Iran-backed Houthi militia in Yemen on Thursday evening. Before that, an American freighter was hit by a combat drone.
The aim of the operation was to prepare fourteen missiles for launch, the responsible regional command of the US Army wrote on platform X, formerly Twitter. The US military had previously announced that a combat drone launched in Yemen struck a US cargo ship flying the Marshall Islands on Wednesday.
No injuries on American ship
According to the information, there was some damage to the ship during the Houthi attack, but no injuries. The vessel, M/V Genco Picardy, is “a Marshall Islands-flagged, U.S.-owned and operated bulk carrier.”
According to the Houthi-controlled Saba news agency, American and British warplanes then shelled targets in the Hodeidah, Taiz, Dhamar, Al-Bayda and Saada areas.
Houthis back on terror list
In response to repeated attacks on international shipping in the Red Sea, the US and Britain, with the support of allies, launched a comprehensive military assault on the Houthis last week.
On Tuesday, US forces attacked another position. The administration of US President Joe Biden also placed the militia back on the list of global terrorists. However, the Houthi attacks continued.
