The lockdowns during the corona pandemic were a burden for us humans. Free-range chickens don’t seem to worry about the solitary confinement caused by bird flu. No wonder given the fun program that two Burgenland poultry farmers have come up with for their feathered companions.
Since a case of bird flu was reported in the Linz-Land district, chickens, geese and turkeys from Austrian poultry farmers have had to stay in stables to prevent infections. The acute febrile viral disease usually ends fatally for the affected animals after initial symptoms such as high fever, loss of appetite, weakness, lethargy and shortness of breath, thereby also threatening the livelihood of their owners.
