A 60-year-old army employee fell down the stairs in a barracks around lunchtime on Thursday and suffered fatal injuries.
Around 11:50 a.m. on Thursday, a 60-year-old army employee in a barracks in Klagenfurt was carrying metal planks from the basement up a flight of stairs and loading them into a small truck.
Loud impact sound
A 29-year-old, also an army employee, helped him by moving the shelves from a basement storage room to the anteroom of the stairs. While in the storage room, the woman heard a loud bang and immediately ran towards the stairs, where she found the 60-year-old motionless on the floor.
The man fell from the basement stairs and was seriously injured. Despite immediate resuscitation measures, the man could not be saved. He died at the scene of the accident.
