A major fire broke out in an oil warehouse in western Russia. Authorities say a Ukrainian drone attacked the site. It was intercepted by Russian air defenses, but too late…
The drone was shot down on its approach, but the explosive payload fell on the Klintsy oil facility in Russia’s western Bryansk Oblast, the region’s governor said on Telegram on Friday morning. There was initially no official response from Kiev.
Up to 6,000 cubic meters of oil on fire
According to Russian information, four oil reservoirs with a total capacity of 6,000 cubic meters were set on fire in the overnight attack. According to initial findings, there are no injuries. According to the emergency services, the fire spread over an area of 1,000 square meters during the morning (see video above).
A similar attack had already taken place on Thursday evening. A drone was intercepted over an oil terminal near St. Petersburg. Never before has a Ukrainian drone penetrated so far into Russia.
Repeated counter-attacks on Russian infrastructure
Russia has been waging a war of aggression against neighboring Ukraine for almost two years. As a result, Russian territory is repeatedly attacked – especially in the border region and against military targets and key Russian infrastructure. The number of victims and damage is disproportionate to the consequences of the war in the attacked Ukraine.
