A 48-year-old man from Vienna-Floridsdorf leaves behind his 38-year-old wife and a group of children. Now the widow has nothing left.
“My husband had now been changed for a week. “He complained of pounding headaches and couldn’t sleep,” said Susanne B. about her husband Karl-Heinz’s disastrous health condition in the days before his death. She repeatedly asked him to see a doctor or go to a hospital, but he didn’t want to. “It will be fine again,” the 48-year-old said confidently. But the opposite happened.
Drove past the scene of the accident with the stroller
On Thursday morning, his wife Susanne took two of their six children to school. She had the two smallest ones with her in the stroller. The youngest, a baby of just four months old, was sleeping peacefully as the 38-year-old walked down a corridor back to the Schlingerhof apartment.
“Fall from the 3rd floor”
“When I saw the police and rescue services in the courtyard, it was immediately clear to me: something bad had happened to my Karl-Heinz.” Emergency services gently broke the bad news to the woman: “Your husband fell from the third floor. Unfortunately we couldn’t do anything more for him. He died on the sidewalk in front of the house.”
Familiar family world destroyed
For the mother of six children, this news meant the collapse of her previously familiar family world. Only four months ago they were happy together with their youngest offspring.
Because the widow’s mother quickly learned of the tragedy, she went to visit her daughter and grandchildren: “As a grandmother, I wanted to support them in this terrible situation.” The next day she fell to her death from the bathroom window. Susanne tries to stay calm. She lovingly cares for the children, who are all half-orphans now.
Grandma and uncle support half-orphans
‘What now?’ The widow’s brother shakes his head. As an uncle, he wants to offer the family some comfort. After former district councilor Hans Jörg Schimanek heard about the family tragedy, he set up a donation account.
