After the end of the war, Zelenskyy invites Trump to visit Kiev

Date:

Former US President Donald Trump believes he can end the war between Ukraine and Russia in just 24 hours. This caused the president of the attacked country, Volodymyr Zelenskyy, to sit up and take notice: he now invited the American to a meeting in Kiev.

Zelenskyi reiterated that he sees no chance of peace with Russia under Kremlin leader Vladimir Putin. “He doesn’t want peace with Ukraine,” he told British television Channel 4.

Zelensky is enthusiastic about Trump’s ideas
Trump, on the other hand, believes he will succeed in reconciling the two hostile countries. Zelensky also wants to know how he wants to achieve this. “I invite you to Ukraine, to Kiev,” Zelensky extended a renewed invitation to Trump. He wanted to hear how Trump planned to carry out his announcement that he would end the war in one day. “Who knows, Donald Trump may actually have an idea, a real idea, and then he can share it with me.”

Ukraine demands delivery of weapons and ammunition
The Ukrainian president continues to reject ceding territory to Russia. He once again emphasized that Western support for Ukraine is crucial. “You can help us win more,” Zelensky said, referring to Western allies who make billions in payments to Ukraine and supply arms and ammunition. He also thanked him for the support so far. “We couldn’t have survived without American help,” he said during debates in Washington on continued military aid to support Ukraine’s defense against Russian invasion.

After almost two years of war, Russia occupies large parts of the Ukrainian regions of Luhansk, Donetsk and Zaporizhia, as well as Kherson. Russia annexed the Black Sea peninsula from Crimea in 2014. Kremlin leader Putin repeatedly accuses Zelensky of having no interest in peace, of wanting to inflict a strategic defeat on Russia – and of banning the negotiations by decree.
