Operation at 1400 meters – Tyrolean Alm in flames: Senner saved 20 cows

Date:

Difficult fire brigade operation Saturday morning in the Tyrolean Alpbachtal (Kufstein district): On the Ebnetalm at about 1400 meters above sea level, a fire broke out for reasons that are still unclear. The commercial wing burned down completely. The dairy farmer was able to get 20 cows to safety before the Florianis arrived – he had to be taken to hospital with suspected smoke inhalation.

At 8.50 am the fire brigades Alpbach and Reith im Alpbachtal were alerted. “Access with our vehicles was extremely difficult. When we got to the top, the service wing was already completely ablaze,” said operational head Christoph Lintner in an interview with “Krone”. At that time, the dairy farmer had already taken the 20 cows outside, which was then taken to the valley by the mountain rescue service. and handed over to the rescue service on suspicion of smoke inhalation.

100 Florianis in action
Due to its remote location, the fire brigade had to install an approximately 1,200 meter long fire-extinguishing water pipe. The 100 emergency services were finally able to get the situation under control. Further firefighting activities took place around noon. It was possible to prevent the flames from spreading to an adjacent hut. A material funicular was apparently also undamaged.

The exact cause is still unclear to this day. A police fire investigator was on his way to the Alm late in the morning.
