Two stray goats kept the fire brigade in Gnas in southeastern Styria busy on Saturday afternoon. They had escaped and were walking quietly down the street. However, in doing so they endanger human lives.
A sweet but dangerous undertaking: On Saturday afternoon, two adventurous goats – one brown and one white – escaped in the southeastern Styrian community of Gnas. They probably thought they should take a leisurely walk along Gnaserstrasse to Feldbach.
Dangerous action
The dangerous part: “The road can be driven at speeds of up to 100 km/h,” says Christian Karner from the fire brigade’s press service.
Several hours of use
First the police rushed to help and guarded the goats before the emergency services of the Gnas fire brigade came to support. They were on duty for two hours with three vehicles. After the animals had been brought to safety, an attempt was made to locate the owners, but unfortunately this was not possible.
That is why a fire truck with a rolling container and mesh box was converted into an animal transporter. After a short break at the Gnas armory, a ‘foster home’ was found for the lost goats.
