“I am the last living witness of the eleven-time murderer Georg Hamminger from Innviertler” – with these words Josef Holzleitner (88) from Kematen an der Krems introduced himself when he called the editors of “Krone”. Read in our plus story which terrible memories haunt Holzleitner into old age.
“I am the last living witness. My sister Mali and I were gathering blueberries in the forest in our home community of Schneegattern. Amalia was eleven, I was nine. Suddenly a shot rang out in the immediate vicinity. I was a lively boy and immediately ran downstairs because I thought a hunter had shot a deer. But it wasn’t a deer,” Holzleitner recalls. The serial killer Georg Hamminger shot post commander Traxler in the back.
