A ski trip in the Tyrolean Westendorf (Kitzbühel district) ended on Monday for a 56-year-old in the clinic in Innsbruck. The Dutchman fell and landed against a tree after about 40 meters.
The serious skiing accident occurred on Monday afternoon around 3:40 p.m., when the Dutchman was skiing on the red Alpenrosen slope. The man fell about 200 meters below the mountain station of the Alpenrosenbahn and went over the edge of the slope. He then fell about 40 meters over steep terrain before a tree broke his fall.
Daughter alerted the emergency services
The daughter of the winter sports enthusiast riding behind noticed the accident and immediately set the rescue chain in motion. The mountain rescue team rescued the injured Dutchman and the emergency helicopter then flew him to the clinic in Innsbruck, where he was hospitalized.
