Major operation at the Donaustadt Bridge: After several body parts were found in the Marchfeld Canal, the next body of water was discovered by a hiker on Wednesday morning.
The emergency services received an emergency call in the morning: a male body was found in the water. According to initial information, a pedestrian may have noticed the lifeless body near the Donaustadt Bridge.
Major operations on the Danube are still ongoing
The incident was confirmed by Vienna police. The operation has been going on since 11:30 am, the Vienna Fire Department confirmed in response to a ‘Krone’ request. According to the emergency services, there is no more precise information yet. It is not yet clear whether the discovery was an accident or something like that.
Body parts discovered in Marchfeld Canal
The fear runs deep among some passers-by. It is the second body discovered in the water in Vienna and the surrounding area in January. Only recently was a father’s body parts fished out of the Marchfeld Canal. It involved a 45-year-old man from Hietzing. The man had been reported missing since November 15.
