There are only very vague descriptions of two unknown perpetrators who wounded a British soldier and a 33-year-old woman from Linz with knives within a week. The investigation into both cases is currently difficult due to the lack of concrete evidence of a suspect. The police are apparently puzzled.
Two knife attacks within a week give researchers in Linz a headache.
The descriptions of the attackers are vague and sometimes quite bizarre. Because the stabber who – as reported – attacked a Briton in the main square of Linz on Tuesday morning in sub-zero temperatures was said to have been wearing shorts.
Three missions in Afghanistan
The 42-year-old cannot logically explain the attack, but he apparently looked directly at the attacker for a long time. Apparently the attack so surprised the Englishman, who was in Linz to visit family, that he was unable to use his military training and fend off the approximately 1.70 meter tall attacker. The Brit was a soldier and had survived three missions in Afghanistan unscathed.
In Linz, however, the knife hit him in the shoulder and penetrated all the way to the bone. After treatment in hospital, the British tourist was released and has apparently already left.
There is a witness to this attack, which took place around 8:30 am: a man from Traun (51) had helped the wounded veteran.
Attack on 33-year-old remains unsolved
Unfortunately, there were no witnesses to the second knife attack, which took place four days before the attack on the main square. No one saw how a 33-year-old walker was allegedly attacked from behind in the Margarethen district, not far from the Danube beach.
The victim suffered two stab or laceration wounds to the leg and stomach area in broad daylight – the alleged attack took place shortly after midday. And as a description, the 33-year-old could only say that the attacker was wearing leather gloves – he covered her mouth from behind with one hand.
The police have not yet filed a report and are still investigating in all directions.
“No connection between the acts”
However, the researchers are certain and give the following answer: “There is no connection between these two inexplicable incidents involving knives in Linz.” Translated: There is no crazy knife stabber walking around randomly looking for victims.
