Just as a 36-year-old was filing a complaint against her ex-boyfriend at a police station in Vienna on Thursday evening, her mobile phone rang: her ex was on the other end of the line, threatening her again. Shortly afterwards, the handcuffs clicked for the 34-year-old.
The 34-year-old Austrian was already banned from entering and approaching the building because he had dangerously threatened his ex-girlfriend a few days ago. When he tried to reach the 36-year-old again by phone on Thursday, she did not answer. He then sent her photos of a gun and a hand grenade. These photos were accompanied by threatening texts.
The 36-year-old then went to the Exhibition Street police station in the evening to report the matter again. Just then, the 34-year-old called again and claimed he was at his ex’s door.
No dangerous items found
Police officers then ran straight to the 36-year-old’s apartment, but the man was not there at all. With reinforcements from WEGA, the suspect was arrested shortly afterwards in an apartment in the Landstrasse district. The dangerous objects the man had threatened to use were not found. The 36-year-old is currently in police custody and investigations are ongoing.
