An armed robbery took place in a tobacco shop on Döblinger Hauptstrasse on Friday afternoon. After the tobacconist refused to give the intruder the money he demanded, he stole letters and ran away.
A man threatened a tobacconist employee with a metal object on Friday afternoon and demanded cash. After she turned him down, he instead accepted letters valued in the low three-figure range and fled. An immediate search has so far turned up nothing. The victim suffered minor injuries in the incident.
Thief jumped on checkout belt
On the same day there was a robbery in Vienna’s Donaustadt in the afternoon. Witnesses alerted police to a shopping center supermarket after seeing an 18-year-old being held following a robbery.
The Austrian allegedly jumped onto the checkout belt with a knife in his hand and threatened an employee. He then took the money from the cash drawer and tried to escape. But thanks to witnesses he was unable to escape. The stolen money and the murder weapon have been seized. The 18-year-old was temporarily arrested and is in pre-trial detention.
