Five passengers were injured in a head-on collision between two cars on Tuesday afternoon in Haus im Ennstal (Liezen district). A four-year-old child had to be resuscitated.
Around 1:40 p.m., a 45-year-old from Vienna drove her car on Ennstal Straße (B320) from Gröbming towards Schladming. A 48-year-old man and the woman’s four-year-old son were also in the car. Suddenly, for reasons still unclear, she crossed a double barrier line into the oncoming lane and collided head-on with an oncoming car driven by a 66-year-old from the Mistelbach district (Lower Austria). The 66-year-old’s 59-year-old wife was in the vehicle.
All occupants of the vehicle were injured
During the collision, all occupants of the car, who were wearing seat belts, suffered undetermined injuries. The four-year-old had to be resuscitated by rescuers and was flown to LKH Graz by the Christophorus 14 rescue helicopter. The 59-year-old from the Mistelbach district was taken to the Schwarzach hospital by the Christophorus 99 rescue helicopter.
B320 closed to all traffic
After the first treatment, the remaining injured were taken to the DKH Schladming by the emergency services. Both cars were totaled. An alcohol test on the vehicle drivers was negative in both cases. The B320 was closed to all traffic until around 3pm. The Schladming, Oberhaus and Haus volunteer fire brigades were on duty with nine vehicles and 45 people.
