Dramatic incident in the mountains of California. A 16-year-old snowboarder threatens to slip out of her chair on a chairlift. Two passengers were initially able to hold the teenager, but a short time later the young woman fell into the depths.
The incident took place on January 27 and was recorded on Instagram (see post below).
Teen is initially held by ski guests
The 16-year-old girl is initially seen dangling from the chairlift and being held by the other ski guests, who apparently were unable to pull her back up.
The 16-year-old dangled there for several minutes while ski area employees responded with a net to cushion her fall. Finally you see them falling down.
Taken to hospital
“Five Mammoth Mountain employees and eight guests responded immediately and placed the deceleration net underneath the guest,” the mountain operators said in a written statement. “When the guest slipped from the grasp of his seatmates, the net slowed her fall but could not stop it. The guest was taken to Mammoth Hospital for evaluation. Our thoughts are with the guest and his family.”
