A violent crime took place during an argument in an apartment in Klagenfurt. A 30-year-old was killed. The police were able to arrest two suspects. The precise circumstances of the crime are still unclear.
A huge pool of blood and a sealed apartment door only give an idea of what terrible act took place in the apartment building in the center of Klagenfurt.
According to witness statements, there was a loud argument in Marco L.’s apartment on Thursday evening. The argument involved two young men. One of the two is said to have suddenly pulled out a pocket knife and stabbed the 30-year-old five to ten times.
“The victim also has numerous lacerations. This points to a defensive struggle,” says Markus Kitz of the Public Prosecution Service in Klagenfurt. A neighbor noticed the argument and alerted the police.
She led investigators to the body. And while detectives secured the 30-year-old’s apartment so no traces would be destroyed, a manhunt was launched for the men.
Suspect had blood on his shoes
A short time later, officers were able to find one of the two men just a few hundred meters from the crime scene: LK The 20-year-old not only had traces of blood on his shoes, but also a pocket knife, which was probably the murder weapon. But the suspect told the officers that he was at the crime scene, but that he had received the knife from SG, the second man involved in the argument with Marco L. Moments later, the handcuffs also clicked for him.
While both men were taken to the Klagenfurt police detention center, detectives took a closer look at the crime scene overnight. And yet many questions remain unanswered: “The two men have not yet been questioned,” Kitz said. The suspects were heavily drunk at the time of the crime and had to sleep off their drunkenness first. That is why the Public Prosecution Service has not yet been able to impose pre-trial detention.
The question of whether the crime could be related to the drug environment in which the victim and suspect are assigned is also still unanswered. According to unofficial information, one of the two suspects has been addicted to drugs for years.
