He bent down for a cigarette in the driver’s cabin and looked out at a line of vehicles that had formed on the A10 near Pfarrwerfen (Salzburg). A truck driver rear-ended a camper, eventually causing a traffic jam that lasted two and a half hours.
A Croat (50) was driving his semi-trailer on the Tauern highway towards Villach on Friday evening and wanted to light a cigarette in the driver’s cabin.
He bent over and noticed that the traffic in front of him had come to a standstill. At Pfarrwerfen he drove unbraked into a mobile home that was pushed onto another car.
No one was injured. However, the tractor-trailer and mobile home were no longer roadworthy and had to be towed away. The section of the A10 was closed in both directions for two and a half hours as the demolished camper and trailer had to be removed from the road.
