Abused – Berlin police freed kidnapped man

In Berlin, police have now released a kidnapped man who was abducted and abused. He is said to be a former Swedish ice hockey player. According to the Public Prosecution Service, four suspects between the ages of 17 and 35 have been arrested.

Authorities said more people were involved in the kidnapping. There was initially no further information about the locations where the victim was being held and the possible demands of the kidnappers. According to information from “Bild”, the police had already stormed a room in the generator hostel on January 18. For several days this was the last hiding place of the hostage takers who had kidnapped the Swede.

Ransom demanded?
According to this report, the perpetrators demanded a ransom for the release of the former athlete. The four suspects now in custody are said to be an Italian (35), an Iraqi (32), a Swede (34) and a Ukrainian (17). The mastermind tried to escape from Berlin to London on a plane.

According to information, Interpol had warned the Berlin police of a possible kidnapping. The Berlin authorities are now working closely with the Swedish authorities. For example, they investigate whether there are connections to organized crime networks.
