On Sunday night, a holiday home in Steinbach burned down along with all the owners’ belongings. Two fire brigades worked for three hours, but in the end there was nothing left but a picture of destruction.
A nightmare for the homeowners: all their belongings went up in flames in their holiday home in Steinbach. The fire left a trail of destruction and virtually nothing was left of the hut.
The Gamlitz volunteer fire brigade was called around 11pm on Saturday evening about a suspected forest fire, but when emergency services arrived an entire weekend house was on fire. They quickly alerted their colleagues from the Ehrenhausen fire brigade so that they could get the entire fire under control.
Hours of effort
Even an excavator who happened to be on site helped them with the firefighting work. The roof structure, ceiling parts and wooden frame walls of the holiday home were removed and the fire was eventually completely extinguished. After about three hours, no more embers were visible on the thermal imaging camera and the operation could be terminated.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation. In total, the two fire brigades were deployed with five vehicles and 28 people.
