After two more cases of measles were confirmed in the Tyrolean lowlands, the country is warning of further infections. Anyone who has been to certain places in Wörgl or Kufstein should pay special attention to their health.
Two people have again fallen ill with measles in Tyrol. According to information from the state, seven cases of the disease were confirmed in the Kufstein and Schwaz districts on Monday. There are four adults and three children. There are also other “highly suspicious cases” in Wörgl and Kufstein.
Those affected were also out and about in public spaces, unaware of their illness. In concrete terms, there were sick people at an indoor football tournament in the Wörgl sports hall on January 20 and at the JuZ Kufstein youth center from January 30 to February 1.
Checking of vaccination status recommended
In non-immune people, the first flu-like symptoms appear about 14 days after contact with a sick person. People who have been to the mentioned locations should check their vaccination status for two measles vaccinations, get the vaccination if necessary and monitor their health status. People who have been vaccinated twice and anyone who has already had measles are considered immune.
