After a 21-year-old parked his car at home in the Hermagor district on Monday morning, the vehicle caught fire. Four fire brigades were deployed to extinguish the fire.
On Monday around 7 a.m., the 21-year-old from Dellach parked his car in the carport next to his home. Just a few minutes later, residents noticed heavy smoke coming from the parked car and alerted the fire brigade before battling the flames themselves with hand-held fire extinguishers.
When the volunteer fire brigades Leifling, Kötschach-Mauthen, Dellach/Gail and St. Daniel arrived on the scene with a total of 49 men, the car was already completely on fire. The fire was prevented from spreading to surrounding buildings. “A technical defect caused the fire,” police said.
The vehicle was a total loss. Fortunately, no one was injured.
