A blast in the Carinthian university scene: Oliver Vitouch has to leave (we reported). But the shock doesn’t seem too great. Because among university employees, but also in local politics, few seem to mourn the departing rector.
Unanimously: this was the result of the Klagenfurt University Council for the new rector Ada Pellert – or against the previous Oliver Vitouch. And this unanimity caused a slight tremor on the Carinthian university scene. But not a tremor of shock and indignation, but rather a tremor of joy. A thrill of joy at Vitouch’s swan song. A long-standing member of the university teaching staff even speaks of a liberation. And that is how many of the university’s approximately 1,500 employees see it.
