Lienz-born Stefan Verra is one of the most sought-after body language experts in Europe, the US and Asia. His clients include NATO, the US Navy and leading global companies and organizations. The “Krone” met him for an interview and received tips.
“Kron”: What is the first thing you notice when you meet someone for the first time?
Stefan Verra: Like every person, I first look at the circumference: is someone tall or short. Does it spread out or take up little space? This was evolutionarily more important than eyes or facial expressions. Because we had to know whether an animal was big and dangerous or not. Anyone who does not dare to take up space will not be taken seriously. However, you should not stand further than hip-width apart, so as not to appear unsympathetic.
