Euskadi will have a new Initial FP model from the 2024-2025 academic year, focused on social cohesion

Date:

Initial FP is designed to serve a highly diverse student population and focuses primarily on the most vulnerable groups.

The Education Consultant Jokin Bildarratztogether with the Deputy Minister of Vocational Training, Jorge Arevalopresented this Friday during the Automotive Electromechanics workshop of the Mendizabala Integrated Vocational Training Center in Vitoria-Gasteiz, the new model of initial vocational training – hitherto known as Basic FP – that the Ministry of Education has designed and will implement from next academic year 2024-2025in the Basque FP system.

It is a more flexible, adapted, open, accessible and efficient training model, in which social cohesion is one of the most important pillars. The big goal with which Initial FP was created is for students to continue learning and training even after obtaining a qualification.

Social cohesion and the well-being of society depend on the existence of a large competent, qualified and socially and professionally integrated population. Therefore, the initial FP opens to a great diversity of groups: students with practical skills, abilities and capacities, with learning difficulties, with functional diversity, without qualifications and with work experience, without qualifications who are unemployed, migrants with accredited training and without.

It also designs different routes that respond to their needs: integrated learning, adapted learning, professionalization, educational reinforcement and flexible learning.

At the end of this training, students obtain two qualifications (compulsory secondary education degree and basic education degree, and if they follow the integrated route, also the secondary education degree), in addition to a vocational certificate.
