A 19-year-old from Innviertel was left without any excuse when he destroyed a sleek BMW in Braunau, Upper Austria, and then fled with his friends. Because the license plates of the PS car have been stolen – but he doesn’t want to know about that.
An accident occurred on Saturday evening shortly before midnight at the “Mäci roundabout” in Braunau. A BMW had rammed a small VW, but fortunately there was no material damage.
But the occupants of the BMW had run away, leaving the car behind. Witnesses saw four boys running away towards Laaber Holzweg.
Escaped from control
When the police arrived at the scene of the accident, something clicked because they knew the BMW: they wanted to stop him, or rather the driver, shortly before, but he had driven away.
The four fleeing boys were quickly found in the darkness. A 19-year-old from Andrichsfurt stated that he had been driving; the breath test showed 0.54 per mille. He didn’t have a driver’s license anyway and the car’s license plates had been stolen: “Someone gave them to me months ago,” said the suspected hit-and-run driver.
Suspected theft
He and his passengers (19 and 21 years old) from Hohenzell and Aurolzmünster are also suspected of theft because a construction site sign was found in the car.
