On Saturday night, unknown persons broke into at least ten parked vehicles in St. Marein and St. Lorenzen in the Mürztal (Bruck-Mürzzuschlag district). Electronic devices and valuables were stolen. The investigation is ongoing.
Apparently the perpetrators broke into the parked vehicles at night in a previously unknown manner. Six of the affected vehicles were parked in the carports of a settlement on Industriestrasse (St. Marein in the Mürztal). Four others were in St. Lorenzen im Mürztal, a few kilometers or minutes away. The unknown suspects stole mobile phones, a laptop, a jacket and several wallets with documents, cash and debit cards from a total of ten vehicles. It is currently unclear how the unknown persons were able to get into the vehicles. Currently it must be assumed that at least some vehicles could have been unlocked. In any case, no signs of violent burglary could be found.
The damage caused is currently estimated at at least several hundred euros. The perpetrators probably used the stolen debit card illegally immediately after the crime. Further studies are being conducted in this regard. Whether there is a connection with other vehicle burglaries is now the subject of a police investigation.
