A Viennese man (43) has created thousands of virtual child pornography videos with the help of artificial intelligence. At the Eisenstadt Regional Court he now described himself as ‘incapable of being in a relationship’.
As many as 86,327 files containing child pornography content were found on the data storage medium of a Viennese company, the majority of which were created with the help of artificial intelligence. It works roughly like this: You type in text about what you would like to see and the AI looks for an image for it. The suspect is not a computer expert.
“I watched my first porn when I was ten,” the 43-year-old said at the Eisenstadt Regional Court. There he is tried for talking to a girl in Deutschkreutz – the detectives then carried out a search. “Even as a teenager, I knew things in life weren’t possible. So I became incapable of having relationships.”
The Viennese converts the 25-minute process into an hour of therapy. Full of confession, he says in the monologue that he had asked for sexual therapy, but unfortunately all the places were taken. “Before I become the real perpetrator…”
He can say that the photos of the children “took him back to a time when I was happy.” And that the police interrogation was positive. “There was no one else I could talk to. I am very grateful to Custom for the way it treated me.”
The innocent man appeared without a lawyer and of course immediately accepted the verdict: a six-month suspended prison sentence. 720 euro fine, psychotherapy during the three-year probation period, probation assistance.
