Following the efforts made in the three areas, the Basque Government and the three councils will explain at a press conference the measures to respond to the demands of the first sector.
Male and female farmers of the Basque Autonomous Community (CAV) have taken to the streets tractors to denounce the ‘serious situation’ facing the sector. In response to the demands, the Basque institutions have agreed on one series of measures which they will present at a press conference this Wednesday.
The appearance (2 p.m.) will take place at the headquarters of the Basque Government and will be attended by the Minister of Economic Development, Sustainability and Environment, Arantxa Tapia, as well as the three regional representatives of the branch, which is, the Deputy for Sustainability, Agriculture and Natural Environment of Álava, Amaia Barredo; the deputy of Natural Environment and Agriculture of Bizkaia, Arantza Atutxa; and Gipuzkoa’s Green Territorial Balance delegate, Xabier Arruti.
Both parties have been in contact in recent weeks, and therefore the Basque institutions know first-hand the needs and demands of the sector.
This is what she was assured this week Arantxa Tapia. In an interview for the ETB program “Egun on Euskadi”, the advisor stated that the Basque government has carried out an analysis of the food chain and will soon start inspections to punish non-compliance.
In this context, a meeting is also planned at state level (4 p.m.) of the Food chain observatorywhich consists of the Ministry of Agriculture, the spokespersons of the first sector, the food industry and distribution, and consumer associations.
