US Missile Deliveries – Biden Won’t Cross ‘Red Line’

Date:

Although Ukraine has repeatedly asked for US missile launchers with longer range, US President Joe Biden has now firmly ruled out such support. Previously, it was said from Russia that such an arms delivery “would cross a red line”.

“We will not supply Ukraine with missile systems that can attack Russia,” Biden told reporters in Washington on Monday. Given Russia’s recent military successes in eastern Ukraine, the Ukrainian government had been asking for unrestricted military support from the West in recent days.

Rocket Launcher systems “urgent” needed
Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said at the World Economic Forum in Davos on Thursday that Ukraine “urgently needs” missile launchers to defend itself against Russian forces.

Russia warns of “danger”
Moscow was alarmed by Ukraine’s request: Russia’s ambassador to the US, Anatoly Antonov, for example, warned of the danger of such equipment. Finally, with the help of American M270 MLRS rocket launchers, Russian cities can also be attacked, provided they are placed close to the borders, he explained in the “Ukrayinska Pravda”.

The United States supports Ukraine with large arms supplies and, along with other Western countries, has imposed extensive sanctions on Russia. At the same time, the Washington administration does not want to intervene directly in the conflict and become a party to the war.
