Due to a major fire brigade operation in the Quellestrasse – Neilreichgasse area in Vienna-Favoriten, tram line 6 had to be diverted in both directions on Thursday afternoon. The professional fire brigade reported that the cause was a smoldering fire in the ventilation pipe of a restaurant.
44 troops arrived with ten vehicles. Among other things, a telescopic mast platform and inspection chimney sweeps from the fire brigade were in use.
Surrounding apartments also checked
The smoldering fire was likely caused by deposits in the restaurant’s exhaust pipe. Smoke from the grill in the kitchen is discharged to the outside air via the roof over several floors of the apartment building. Because a smoldering fire releases a lot of carbon monoxide, the surrounding apartments were also checked.
Tram lines were diverted
During the operation, tram 6 was diverted via lines 18 and O between Matzleinsdorfer Platz and Quellenplatz. Line 14A was available as a replacement.
