German reveals: – Radar error on Austria’s highest pass road

Date:

The administrative authorities use a radar device to detect speeders on Glocknerstrasse. A clever German has now revealed that this device shouldn’t even be in use. Now the cyclist wonders how many road users have wrongly had to pay because of the mistake.

It all started with a radar fine that Thomas Zimmer from Saarbrücken (D) received in June 2023 on Großglocknerstrasse in the Carinthian municipality of Heiligenblut. “A few days later I received a letter from the Spittal an der Drau district council with a fine of 210 euros,” the passionate motorcyclist tells the “Krone”. The German is said to have exceeded the permitted maximum speed of 70 km/h by 35 km/h.
