Because he was distracted by a maneuver by another driver, a German driver missed the end of a traffic jam on the Fern Pass on Sunday and collided with a stationary car of a fellow countryman. This was pushed against another car. Four people were injured.
A 55-year-old German was driving his car north on Fernpass Straße (B179) around 11:20 am on Sunday. Near the OMV gas station he saw a car whose driver was coming from the right and wanted to get onto the main road. According to previous findings, the 55-year-old was distracted and overlooked the end of the traffic jam directly in front of him. He then drove into the stationary car of a 56-year-old German. This was then pushed onto another car, which was driven by a 30-year-old German.
Injured people taken to the clinic for examination
The 55-year-old driver and his wife, the daughter of the 56-year-old involved in the accident (55 years old and 16 years old, both German citizens) and the passenger of the 30-year-old (a 54-year-old Dane) were injured to an unspecified degree in the collision. The rescue team took him to Zams Hospital for further clarification.
While the accident was recorded and two accident vehicles were recovered, the B179 was only accessible for about an hour on both sides. In action were: five vehicles from FFW Nassereith with 37 personnel, three ambulances and an emergency doctor (ten men), a patrol from PI Nassereith, a vehicle from the Haiming construction site and two tow trucks.
