The mission will consist of four frigates from France, Germany, Greece and Italywhich will also cooperate with an air patrol in the area, as stated by several diplomatic sources. Greece will command the mission and will house the headquarters.
The operation will have a purely defensive mandatewith the aim of escorting merchant ships transiting the Persian Gulf, the Gulf of Oman, the Gulf of Aden and the Red Sea, and shooting down any missiles or drones the Houthis may launch at them.
But will not attack preemptively rebel positionsas the United States and Great Britain do with the mission Welfare protector.
