Volker Grohskopf has been accompanying Villach’s carnival sessions for years. The ORF director died in Vienna at the age of 58.
The born German devoted his life to productions such as “Licht ins Dunkel”, various operas, but especially to the Villach carnival. Grohskopf was already working on the upcoming anniversary “70 years of Villach Carnival”.
There is no specific information about the circumstances of the director’s death. However, it is said from guild circles that he died unexpectedly of a heart attack.
Bruno Arendt of the Association of Austrian Carnival Guilds also deeply regrets the death: “Unfortunately it is true!” A few weeks ago he awarded Grohskopf the NÄRRity Order.
