A South Tyrolean (73) was found on Monday in a meadow near Brixen with bite wounds on his body and severely hypothermic. The man from Feldthurns has been missing since Sunday. It is believed that he was killed by an unknown animal.
After the 73-year-old was discovered in a meadow, he succumbed to his serious injuries in hospital a short time later. The man had several bite marks on his body. According to regional media, investigators assumed a dog, wolf or jackal could be responsible.
Watchdog could have attacked man
The DNA traces are now being evaluated. However, the carabinieri ruled out a violent crime. It is also possible that one of the family’s guard dogs attacked the 73-year-old. The results of the DNA test are expected on Wednesday.
