The US says the Houthi militant militia in Yemen has fired two anti-ship ballistic missiles at the Greek-flagged US container ship Sea Champion. One of the missiles exploded near the ship, causing minor damage, U.S. Central Command said. The cargo ship was en route to Aden in Yemen with humanitarian aid supplies. An insider said the attack was an accident.
A person familiar with the matter said at the port of Aden. Another port official in Hodeidah, who also asked not to be named, said the Houthis said the attack was not intentional.
Houthis representatives were not immediately available for comment. According to U.S. Central Command, the Sea Champion has delivered humanitarian aid to Yemen 11 times in the past five years.
