Different countries, different customs: Iraqis who lose their travel document at home or abroad do not have to report the loss only to the police. After Shakir Mahmoud Shakir, living in Kufstein in Tyrol, visited the “Krone”, strange facts came to light.

The visit of an Iraqi to the editorial offices caused confusion among the staff of “Tiroler Krone”. “I have lost my passport and would like to file a complaint,” Shakir Mahmoud Shakir explains. He was not deterred by pointing out that he would be better off with the police than with Austria’s largest daily newspaper.
