The series of serious skiing accidents in Tyrol continues: after a series of operations over the weekend, ski rescuers were also on duty on Wednesday. Once again there were several injured. In Sölden (Imst district) a collision ended fatally for an eight-year-old Dutch girl.
The holiday girl skied to the valley on Wednesday around 2 p.m. on blue piste number 15 at Giggijoch. After climbing a steep slope, the student almost collided head-on with a 47-year-old German woman. “The eight-year-old was seriously injured and flown by emergency helicopter to hospital in Zams,” police said. The German was unharmed.
Serious fall
A 33-year-old was seriously injured in a second skiing accident in the Ötztal shortly before. The German was in the Hochoetz ski area around 1:20 p.m. A 19-year-old Dutch woman fell on the slope, slid 50 meters downhill and collided with the 33-year-old. Although the 19-year-old was unharmed, the 33-year-old was seriously injured in the subsequent fall. She was rescued by the pister rescue team and also taken to Zams Hospital with the rescue team.
Crashed into piste markings
And piste rescuers were also called upon in the Zillertal: on Wednesday around 8:45 am, a 74-year-old Austrian lost control of his skis in a steep section on the black marked piste number 7 in the Hochzillertal ski area. He then crashed into a piste marking post set up to the side. The winter sports enthusiast was seriously injured and was flown by rescue helicopter to the district hospital in Schwaz.
Woman lost consciousness
And around 1:45 p.m., a German (62) and a 13-year-old Dutchman collided in the Hintertux ski area. Near the so-called black pan, the 62-year-old veered to the left near a narrow area and collided with the teenager. Both fell. “The woman briefly lost consciousness when she hit the runway and was then flown by the rescue helicopter to the Schwaz district hospital,” the director said. The Dutchman was unharmed.
