“Krone” knows details – Cobra operation in Tyrol: man jumped from balcony

Date:

There was excitement in the Tyrolean community of Pfaffenhofen on Sunday afternoon! Shots were reportedly fired in a residential complex directly opposite the train station and a neighbor raised the alarm. Not only the police responded, but also the Cobra task force. However, according to information from “Krone”, the incident would have taken place slightly differently.

The peace of the relaxed, sunny Sunday was suddenly disturbed in the afternoon. According to Tyrolean police, a neighbor suddenly heard shots and immediately alerted the police. However, during a local inspection by the “Tiroler Krone”, eyewitnesses reported a slightly different version: “A man shouted from a balcony around 3 p.m. and threw things into the courtyard. Many police and rescue workers then came out and blocked all access roads around the station area.” Eyewitnesses cannot confirm whether shots were actually fired. The neighbor also reportedly interpreted the sounds of falling objects as gunshots.

“No firearm was seized”
The police press spokesperson also emphasized to the “Tiroler Krone”: “The officers on site were unable to secure a firearm. For this reason we do not know whether shots were fired at all.” But the fact is: the man is a 33-year-old local resident.

“When the emergency services – twelve police patrols and the Cobra – arrived on the scene, the 33-year-old jumped from the balcony. “He suffered injuries,” the spokesperson said. However, he probably didn’t jump from too great a height. “According to the current status, the balcony was on the first floor. The man’s injuries should not have been so serious,” the police officer reported. The 33-year-old was taken to the clinic in Innsbruck.

“Residents were evacuated”
Eyewitnesses also confirm this: “We saw a person being taken away on a stretcher.” And what happened to the other residents of the house? “They were evacuated from the apartment building by the emergency services. They all found shelter on the station grounds and the people who were in the snack bar there were not allowed to leave during the operation, police said. “Three hours later it was all over,” the eyewitnesses say.
