After Easter – The ninja pass in schools has had its day

Date:

The thinned out testing regime after the Easter holidays means the end for the stickers. In some areas, however, the Ninjapas for students was still considered an exception in places where 2G actually applies. For example in Vienna in gastronomy. Shouldn’t unvaccinated children go to restaurants?

The declining infection rates are also reflected in the classrooms. Last week, 6,023 Viennese students were diagnosed with corona positive, this week it was ‘only’ 4,763. The new assessment regime at schools will come into effect after the Easter holidays.

The Ministry of Education scheme is still pending, here are the first details:

  • Only one PCR test per week is scheduled.
  • The school tests are not part of the five free tests per month, but are part of a separate quota.
  • Teachers will also be able to test with the students once a week – in addition to their free allocated portion.
  • All Viennese students have to re-scan their ID card/e-card for “Alles gurgelt” this week.
  • In case of positive cases in class, the children can indicate “I am the contact person”, then the restriction does not apply.
  • “The ninja pass, where students receive stickers for their negative test, will no longer exist,” says the ministry.

Which has a consequent effect on Vienna. Because here, unlike in the other federal states, the 2G rule still applies in gastronomy. However, children under 14 were also allowed to enter a bar without vaccination if they could show a fully sealed ninja pass. It remains undisclosed whether they will be able to participate in gastronomic life until after Easter after they have been vaccinated or recovered. “Vienna’s current ordinance is valid until April 16, what comes after that has yet to be politically clarified,” said the cabinet of Health Councilor Peter Hacker.

Kindergartens can test an unlimited number of times
One exception still stands out in the new Covid regulation: preschoolers and kindergarten teachers are completely exempt from the test restriction, unlike teachers and students. You can continue to test for Corona as often as you want as part of the screening programmes.
