In the districts of Klagenfurt, Klagenfurt-Land and St. Veit, burglars had been causing mischief for more than a year and a half. Between April 2022 and November 2023 they struck 84 times. Now one of the perpetrators has been caught.
Home and business owners in and around Klagenfurt and St. Veit can now sleep a little easier. After a series of burglaries kept the police busy for months, they were now able to arrest at least one of the perpetrators after extensive investigation.
400,000 euros in material damage
“The 26-year-old Moldovan was arrested on November 3. “The investigators have now been able to prove that he committed 84 burglaries,” the police report. “Cash worth tens of thousands of euros was stolen during the burglaries. The investigation into another, yet unknown perpetrator is still ongoing.” In addition to the financial damage caused by the stolen money, the material damage caused is significant and amounts to around 400,000 euros.
The Moldovan, who was caught on a surveillance camera, is still silent about his motives. He is currently in Klagenfurt prison.
