Cruciate ligament rupture – not only top athletes such as footballer David Alaba or skier Marco Schwarz, but also countless amateur athletes know this injury from their own painful experience. But some patients still suffer from knee pain after the operation, reports a Viennese orthopedist.

When an ACL tears, not only this structure is damaged, but also at least one other structure, such as the inner collateral ligament. And according to current medical findings, this is one of the reasons why cruciate ligament operations do not produce the desired results in two out of ten patients, as sports orthopedist and knee specialist Dr. Martin Gruber from Vienna explains. What doctors and patients should pay attention to.
