A German (23) had several guardian angels in the Hochgurgl ski area in the Tyrolean Ötztal on Thursday! The man was caught in an avalanche in open terrain and was almost completely buried. Nevertheless, he was able to extricate himself from his predicament.
The incident happened around 10:45 am. In the Hochgurgl ski area, the 23-year-old skied an approximately 45-degree steep slope in the free ski area. “While traveling through rocky terrain, he lost a ski and fell,” police said. Then an avalanche broke out and buried the German. “Only his right hand was sticking out of the avalanche.”
Witness made an emergency call
The 23-year-old was able to free himself and was unharmed. A witness made an emergency call, after which a search was started. However, except for the German, no one was buried.
