There were only two left! After twenty years underground, Daniela Klette (65) was arrested. Two accomplices are still on the run.
The Red Army Faction (RAF) is considered a left-wing extremist terrorist organization that caused fear and terror in Germany from the 1970s onwards. The RAF is believed to be responsible for 33 murders of police officers, politicians, captains of industry and several explosive attacks that injured more than 200 people, some seriously. In 1998, the terrorist organization announced its official dissolution. The hard core consisted of 80 people and there were about a thousand supporters.
The members who had not yet been arrested or killed disappeared underground. To finance their lives, the terrorists are said to have committed several armed robberies in Germany between 1999 and 2016. At the beginning of this week – as reported – the handcuffs clicked on the RAF terrorist Daniela Klette in Berlin-Kreuzberg.
“Claudia” gave tutoring and swept the streets
According to Bild, the now 65-year-old woman called herself Claudia, tutored children and worked on a voluntary basis with neighbors in street-waste-ridden Berlin, regularly sweeping the streets in her neighborhood. According to the Berlin daily “Der Tagesspiegel,” officials found heavy weapons such as a Kalashnikov and a grenade in the 650-euro rental apartment.
A reward of €150,000 for the arrest of fugitive duos
During the search by officers, all residents had to leave the apartment complex. Klette is now in custody, but the hunt for other RAF terrorists is not over yet. In sight: Ernst-Volker Staub (69) and Burkhard Garweg (55). The two people in hiding and the one who has now been arrested are assigned to the RAF by third-generation investigators. A reward of 150,000 euros has been announced for information leading to the arrest of Staub and Garweg.
