A Ukrainian smuggler (32) fell into the Tyrolean police network in Leutasch near Seefeld (Innsbruck-Land district). The man apparently wanted to take four men – including three Syrians – to Germany. Both he and his ‘clients’ were arrested.
As the police announced on Friday, officers checked the car of the 32-year-old Ukrainian on Leutascher Straße in Leutasch on Tuesday at 10:30 p.m. They found three kidnapped Syrians (aged 19, 29 and 38) and a stateless man (31) hidden under a blanket. All occupants were immediately arrested.
Deported back to Italy
“After further investigation, suspicions grew that the Ukrainian had collected a four-figure sum of money from the men to transport them from Slovenia via Italy, Austria and Germany,” investigators said. The Ukrainian is now in Innsbruck prison.
Some of the people dragged were pushed back to Italy.
