Spectacular accident Tuesday evening in Wörgl in the Tiroler Unterland: a 29-year-old driver lost control of the steering wheel in a bend, went off the road and ended up with his car in an allotment garden. The driver was not injured and his passenger was taken to hospital by ambulance.
Excessive speed and the rain-soaked road may have been fatal for the 29-year-old Austrian. The young man was driving on the so-called Nordtangente towards the center of Wörgl around 8.45 pm when he lost control of the vehicle in a sharp right-hand bend. “It first came into the oncoming lane, then crashed into concrete barriers and ended up in an allotment house on the side of the road,” police said.
Passenger injured in hospital
Fortunately, there was no one in the wooden hut at the time. However, the passenger of the 29-year-old was injured. After receiving first aid, he was taken by ambulance to the Kufstein district hospital. The driver, on the other hand, got away with a fright.
Driver was drunk
Explosive: An alcohol test on the 29-year-old was positive. His driver’s license was taken from him on the spot. He now faces charges and a hefty fine. There was extensive damage to the car and the allotment garden.
