Apparently there is a crazy animal executioner on the loose in Graz: after incidents in Eggenberg, poison bait has now also appeared in Wetzelsdorf. This treacherous action has already cost the life of one dog. The police are investigating.
It is probably the nightmare of all dog owners, which has now become reality for a family in Graz: their dog “Ronja” died in agony from poison bait; the deadly trap was lurking in their own garden in Wetzelsdorf. This is not the first incident in recent days in the Styrian capital. Poison had previously appeared in the neighboring Eggenberg district.
Councilor shocked
„It’s simply incredible what actions some people are capable of. It is inexplicable to me why an innocent dog had to suffer a painful death via poison bait. “Your own garden in particular should offer your dog safety from possible dangers and should not be a source of danger,” says Animal Welfare councilor Claudia Schönbacher (KFG) in shock. Pet owners are now urged to exercise special caution. In Wetzelsdorf, several meatballs were found on Sunday in gardens and front yards in the Haaräckerstrasse/Heimweg district.
The police investigation is currently ongoing. The executive is asking for the public’s help – any information or discoveries of poison bait must be reported to the Eggenberg office at 059/1336582-100.
